A Few Things To Share As The New Week Begins!

My daughter posted this on Facebook about me lol!!!!!!!

I live with a bunch of comedians!!!!!

We not only had Charlotte's Baptism on Saturday it was also  Grandparents Day.
On the left is my mom seated and then granddaughter Abby big sister to Charlotte.  Terry's mom and dad.  It was special because Terry's Dad is a Deacon in the Catholic Church and baptized Charlotte his great granddaughter.  Made the Baptism even more special.
Nice to have grandparents and great grandparents all together to celebrate the Baptism and Grandparents Day.

Ok now on to a fun new Shop.

Morris,  the cute town I talk about with sweet shops has one called Vintage.   Vintage is one of my faves.  When we arrived I notice the shop was cleared out and gone.  I thought "oh no this can't be"!!!  I asked in some of the other shops about what might have happened to Vintage?  They said she had major problems with the landlords and had to move out quickly but they said she opened up in a new shop called Ugly Duckling in New Lenox.  I did the happy dance since I live in New Lenox.

The grand opening was yesterday for Ugly Duckling.
With Charlotte's Baptism I could not make the grand opening and went on Sunday.
Kathleen is the owner of Ugly Duckling and so sweet she allowed me to take some pics to share with all of you.  She has a few vendors inside the shop along with her beautiful pieces.  Vintage  being one of the new vendors.

Ugly Duckling will be a pop up shop and open on occasion and every other week end.

You will see as you stroll through my pics how fabulous this shop is.

Charming building.

Junk and Disorderly!!!! Love this vendors name and her great treasures for sale.
This is what I brought home with me.  I am going to hang the vintage hanger and bird cage on the porch with some fall decor.  I think this filled with some cute pumpkins, fall leaves etc. will look cute.

Look at this fabulous chair in the background.  Just adorable.  Sold as I was taking the picture :(

Another fabulous piece that was sold.

I want no!! I need that awesome Bakery Sign.  It is hard to tell from the picture but the wood is old barn wood with lots of character.

The owner Kathleen will be running painting classes.  She has a great area with lots of room for her classes.

Everything is vintage and hand made so she wants to have it be a new experience each time she opens up the shop.  So in between being open she will be working on handmade pieces along with her vendors bringing in new treasures for sale.

The grand opening was yesterday and Kathleen said they sold out almost the whole store.    I am excited to have it right in my neighborhood.  It will be fun to go back at the next opening to see all the new treasures for sale.

Kathleen has her Facebook page here where she will post the dates she will be open.

So if you live near New Lenox Illinois then you must come and visit this cute shop.  Heck if you live near New Lenox you must come visit me and we will shop!!!!

My mom leaves today to go back to Florida.  All the family is going back to work.  The fun week end is over and I have my quiet house back.
Wishing you all a great week.
Kris

  15. Kris I can hear you saying "I can paint it and make it beautiful again!" I am laughing - your daughter nailed it !!! I didn't know Terry's Dad's a deacon - Wow how special that he baptized sweet Charlotte. Very meaningful day and a beautiful family gathering. I have a feeling you are going to be hanging in Junk and Disorderly a lot! Your creative imagination will make the vintage birdcage an outstanding fall decoration. Ahhh Fall, love this time of year and all that goes with Autumn.

  17. Good morning Kris!!!!!!

Congratulations on the baptism and the family get-together! Another great blog pal of mine just had her first great granddaughter and it's a joy to be PART of the celebration as friends share their new members of the family! You all look great.

WOWSWERS...I bet you were disappointed when you first saw this shoppe empty, but what a relief that one of your favorite GO-TO places is still going strong!

Enjoy finding those things that make you happy. I am too! I have a little table I have on hold and one more French chair to pick up to bring home. Oh the fun.

  18. Oh my goodness, I laughed at the first picture! If your family is making fun of you, it means they love what you're doing. That's what I say anyway, lol. How wonderful to have a baptism coincide with grandparents day and have great grandparents there as well. Special too, to have Terry's dad perform the ceremony! Love the picture of all of you. So sweet!
Cute shop and I love it's name! Wish I was close enough to go. How great is it that it's where you live?!? I bet we'll be seeing lots of stuff from there that you buy. I'll live vicariously through you, ok? Have a wonderful week!

  19. Even before I got to the end of your post, I googled the distance from Racine to New Lenox and find it is less than two hours from here! I feel a road trip stirring in my soul. I also clicked on her FB page and will make it a regular "browse" over morning coffee. Thanks for all your inspiration.

  26. Hi, Kris

I'm a faithful reader of your blog, though I don't have a blog of my own. I live in Cape May, NJ, but my daughter lives in Chicago and we hit the area flea markets whenever I visit her. You always talk about Morris and I've been wanting to go to the Three French Hens Market for awhile. It just so happens I'll be visiting Meredith Nov. 10-14 -- which coincides with their Holiday Market! I've been googling the vintage shops downtown as well -- True North, Outside In, Ruby Begonia's, Whimsy & Feathered Nest. I know you wrote Vintage recently moved. And of course, Letty Mae's, the tearoom. I just wanted to ask you am I missing any other shabby vintage junk shops in Morris that are must-sees? We probably won't venture too far from Morris this time b/c of the Holiday Fair and it's also our first time visiting Morris. Any tips or recommendations you have for us would be really appreciated. Thank you so much! My e-mail address is marysmiklasz@gmail.com

  28. love that all the family was together for your grandbaby's baptism. How extra special for a grandfather to perform the rite. I often wonder how the pop ups stay in business...I've been told that they can actually be more profitable. Probably something to do with the limited time that the shop is open, the buyers are more eager to purchase...don't want to have the thoughts of regrets, when you won't be able to visit again for several weeks...lol. Didn't you just love the backdrop décor of the spaces. Great atmosphere. Have a great week!

  35. Wow! What a great shop! I'm glad you found the new location of the one you were looking for and discovered a new favorite! The little bird cage you bought is adorable and will look so sweet on your porch with fall decor! Love that gasoline (I think) can made into a bird house! The primitive scarecrow on the counter is so cute! I can tell that I would love browsing this shop! It's great that your mom and Terry's parents could be in attendance for the baptism and that Terry's dad could officiate! That makes it extra special! Your mom looks well. I was thinking of her recently and hoping that she was doing well. Sounds like it was a wonderful family weekend! Enjoy your quiet week! Hugs, Leena
